Farron Greatsword (5e Equipment)

This page is incomplete and/or lacking flavor. Reason: Why couldn't a player just use the dagger on its own, thus making it two separate weapons? The 8 hours of practice sounds a lot like attunement which, combined with the following, makes this certainly a magical item. Why would this specific dagger be the only weapon that is able to parry or to make a leaping attack? Why does this mundane item grant a maneuver (i.e. why would simply wielding this weapon grant you specific training)? Cost and balance are not the same thing, since a player could simply start with this weapon, so the outlandish price only cements that this should be magical.

The Farron Greatsword was born of the martial sword techniques of corrupted heroes. The sword comes with a small parrying dagger. When the sword is two-handed, the parrying dagger is equipped in the off-hand. When wielded in this way, the sword is considered versatile (1d8 slashing) and becomes a Finesse weapon. The weapon requires at least 8 hour of practice to be wielded with proficiency in addition to requiring Martial Weapon proficiency.

Parry. When the Farron Greatsword's parrying dagger is equipped in your off-hand, you may use your reaction to gain AC equivalent to your Proficiency Bonus, and lasts until your next turn.

Evasive Vivisection. When the Farron Greatsword is two-handed, you may leap up to ten feet on a single attack this turn and you do not provoke opportunity attacks.

Sweeping Maneuvers. You gain the Battlemaster Maneuver "Sweeping Attack," and gain +1d4 on your Damage Roll.
