Talk:Flesh of a Demi-God (3.5e Equipment)
Isnt' there some sort of deity or outsider being that is responsible for stopping people from doing this sort of thing? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere in some sourcebook that there's a superpower outsider that stops gith (and others) from mining deity corpses on the Astral Plane. I wonder if this same creature would have a problem with this equipment as well.
Also, this seems to lack a solid mechanic... is this based on something, or is there some dice-rolling involved? Is there a certain amount that needs to be eaten? I mean, if you could eat a fingernail, you could split up a dead demigod into a million peices and create 1 million immortal outsiders. Is there more coming on this? :\ --Othtim 16:31, 16 February 2008 (MST)
- You give me an idea... Green Star Adapt, but for becoming an outsider via eating another deity. Or maybe at least other outsiders. Course I figure it would be any non-good, but it would be a good step into a character wanting to be a demon, better than whatever that Demon Skin class in Complete Arcane is.
- I don't know about the superpower but I always figured that the god corpses in the astral sea were indestructible and thus inedible. May I recommend then that the god flesh be treated so that it can be devoured (if you manage to pull off a piece in the first place). And a Fort save vs something horrible, because this does grant you benefits, and I see some risk with it. Doing a Highlander, absorbing the power of a god might be a bit too much for you.
- Awesome BBEG idea too, a slayer of demigods and heroes and he is EATING them to gain power. -- Eiji 20:03, 16 February 2008 (MST)
- Ah! Found some stuff. Malhavoc press had a book, "Requiem for a God" that discusses "godsflesh" and "godsblood", which have to be consumed as prerequisites for supernatural feats listed in the book. Also, Anubis, from the Pharonic pantheon, is the watchmen of the dead gods, and he works to foil attempts to mine or otherwise damage dead god husks. Also, apparently Astral Dreadnaughts are attracted to anyone mining or otherwise attempting to disturb god corpses in the Astral Plane. Yeah, and about the godsflesh/godsblood discussed in "Requiem for a God" - the downside of attempting to gain supernatural powers by ingesting it was that the gods personality might overcome you. Here's another tidbit out of the Planeswalker Encyclopedia: "The jackal-headed entity once known as Anubis is now the enigmatic Guardian of the Dead Gods, tasked by the powers or the multiverse itself to watch over the husks of dead divinities that float in the Astral Plane. Sometimes the Guardian permits beings like githyanki to build homes on the corpses, while other times it will sternly deal with any who even touch the deceased powers." --Othtim 22:25, 16 February 2008 (MST)
