Talk:Mimic Slime (5e Race)
Work In Progress
This race is still undergoing changes to make things more balanced while still trying to keep its unique traits!
- Looking it over now the issue is the all the traits are pretty vague and aren't tangible mechanically. I'll give the following suggestions to better communicate them:
- Speed. Bump it up to 25 feet so this character can keep up with other Small races.
- Magic Sense. If you want to mimic the vision in the anime giving them a blindsight range of 0 feet(so they can only see what is on their square or hex with this sense), making them colorblind, and granting then darkvision of 60 feet(so they can see in the dark as well) and then finally giving them the ability to cast the spell detect magic once before needing to take a short rest.
- Fluid Form. This is fine.
- Mimic. Allowing them to polymorph into a Medium or smaller object once before needing to take a short rest would flavorful.
- Great Sage. This could be a conditional ability such as that of the dwarves Stonecunning. You could say that by ingesting an item you would have advantage on Intelligence checks made to identify it. Another idea is that you could cast the identify spell on it once before needing to take a short rest.
- Language. Ingesting a creature and learning its language shouldn't be a thing.
- If you need help on the wording the Musicus_Meter_(5e_Guideline) is a pretty good resource. You should also add some more tangible lore and endeavor to fill in the alignment, age, and size sections with more specific and less general/vague information. —ConcealedLight

This page needs more detail
I am a little confused on how the transformation works. Once it turns into another creature, does it gain it's equipment? If so, is it proficient in said equipment or does it keep it's own proficiency? If this is a slime, can it hold stuff in tiny hands like Kirby or does it just have to absorb them into it's body? Speaking of absorption, how does it's identify trait works? The trait says you need to absorb another creature, but then it just says you can cast identify! Can you only cast it on creatures inside you, or can you cast it on others? If you can only cast it on people you have absorbed, this ability seems pretty limited, and if you can cast it on anyone, why does someone need to be inside you? If you look at it, it says you can cast polymorph to turn into a creature. So therefore, you look at the spell polymorph. In the the identify works on small or smaller objects. Very easy to see. In the holding things I’m not sure on how it holds things. Maybe a combination of both? VampDio (talk)
